NAUVOO trip July 2009

On July 20, 2009 we departed Los Angeles and arrived in Kansas City International Airport. After getting our rental car, we drove on to Hannibal Missour where we had dinner on the Mark Twain Riverboat and arrived late in the evening in Nauvoo. We stayed at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites and spent the next several days touring church history. It was a wonderful experiences and especially since we were able to share much of our time with our family.

We also had a good time sharing experiences with some of our children

Walking down the 'Trail of Hope' and thinking of the faith and courage of our Pioneer Ancestors as they looked back at their beloved temple.

There is so much history here in Nauvoo which goes back to Marvin's ancestery. The temple was a wonderful experience

The gardens around the Visitors Center were beautiful.

We experienced a very powerfully moving presentation at Carthage Jail where Joseph and Hyrum were killed.

Adam-ondi-Ahman was a definite highlight.

On our last day we visited Independence Missouri, enjoying a Pioneer Trails Adventure by covered wagon touring Truman Courthouse, National Frontier Trails Center, stories of Independence Civil War battles and much more. We took a walking trail to the LDS visitors center, temple lot, Partridge Home site and school, and Public Square. We were also treated to a tour of the Historic Liberty Jail by Sister LaBass from our hometown and serving a mission in Missouri.
