Kate Ellen was born Friday, August 15, weighing in at a solid 8 pounds, 1 ounce. She's 21 inches long, has a full head of hair and a good set of lungs.

The computer swallowed grandma.

She pressed 'control' and 'enter'

It devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus
Or been eaten by a worm.
I've searched through the recycle bin
And files of every kind;
I've even used the Internet,
But nothing did I find.
In desperation, I asked Jeeves
My searches to refine.
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found 'online.'

VEGAS OR BUST...from Matt's gang

Heather has her hands pretty busy with twins...so we said we would post these pictures of their vacation.

On the way over to Vegas we stopped several times and made little adventures out of our stops. Heather researched all the possible things we could do from Colorado on into Nevada. So if we needed a stop, we didn't stop at a rest area, we stopped for an adventure. They enjoyed Uncle Dave's tent while camping along the way. The first night Christa said they slept on rocks, but the second night was grass and also had a swimming pool and waterslides. Jenna's favorite part of the trip was hiking...she loves to hike.

Or we stopped at a peach farm and took a personal tour of how they grow, pick and package their peaches. And there was a Science Museum with beehives, frogs, electricity, lots of neat stuff. Nate really liked the waterfalls with clear water that you could see all the way down to the bottom & the fish.

We stopped at a science museum, Cove Fort, and the Colorado Monument.

Vegas was hot. And most of the time we were hiding out wherever there was water. Great fun and lots of memories.
Nate's favorite place was when he and I went to the Hoover Dam. We didn't just go to it, we went in it. We paid for a tour that took us deep within the dam, power plants and tunnels. One of the tunnels led us through an air shaft in the middle of the dam. We could look down through grates and see outside. We were pretty high.

I think we all had a good time. But was good to come home. The children have been spending time at their Library too. Nate recommends "A-Z Mystery's" and "Encyclopedia Brown".

UNITED STATES MAP -Short But Good!

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little girl, Shelby. She wanted to know what the United States looked like; he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the map of the country. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to her and said, “Go into the other room and see if you can put this together. This will show you our whole country today.”After a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map, correctly fitted and taped together. The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly. “Oh,” she said, “on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I got Jesus back where He belonged, then our country just came together.” When our country puts Jesus where He belongs, we will have peace as it says in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace…” And in Isaiah 32:17, “And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” A perfect example of this is found in 4th Nephi when everyone was living the gospel of Jesus Christ, “…and there still continued to be peace in the land”. And from latter-day revelation in Doctrine and Covenants 59:23, “But learn that he who doeth the works of righteousness shall receive his reward, even peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come.”

I can't vs. I CAN

I remember, as a little girl, saying to my mother, "but I can't". She would laugh and always say "yes, you can...all Can't did was sit around and say can't...you can do it". She always had a positive attitude and just wish our children could have known her as she died when I was just 14 years old. Even with MS, she always determined [some called it stubborn] and people who visited her would leave laughing because of her humor.

This video reminded me of that experience with my mother. Worth watching and sharing with your family for Family Night lesson on "I Can Do It".

California Supreme Court IGNORES the will of Californians

In March 2000, California voters overwhelmingly approved a state law providing that “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” The California Supreme Court recently reversed this vote of the people. On November 4, 2008, California voters have an opportunity to vote on a proposed amendment to the California State Constitution that will now restore the March 2000 definition of marriage approved by the voters.

Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God, and the formation of families is central to the Creator’s plan for His children.

“So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God created him; male and female created he them”, Genesis 1:27

“…He which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they twain shall be one flesh”, Matthew 19:4-5 & Mark 10:6-9

“Neverthless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife and let every woman have her own husband.” 1 Cor 7:2

A warning from latter-day prophets: “…we warn that the disintergration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities fortold by ancient and modern prophets.”

There are several things that we can do to help this amendment pass on the November ballot. First of all be sure we are registered voters and encourage our neighbors, family and friends to do the same. Contribute money and time to this cause. For more information visit www.ProtectMarriage.com, which is a broad-based coalition of national, state, and local pro-family organizations, churches, and individuals united to amend the California Constitution to protect the institution of marriage as a legal union between a man and a woman. Eighteen other states thus far have voted to amend their constitutions in a similar way.
